What does evolution mean for a Christian?

Evolution implies that as a species we improve biologically gradually over time. Part of this process includes birthing and dying and is a critical component because birthing alone would not improve the gene pool because that would mean nothing will push the species to improve if we were all immortal.

Since dying is part of the process, and if that process was put in place by God or by random events to create the human race, what is the punishment for sin since death is already part of the process? And if death is part of the process, why did Jesus come? Also, evolution relegates the story of Genesis as a fairytale since Adam and Eve were immortal until they sinned and brought death into the world.

Essentially, by eliminating the origins of the human race by eliminating the Garden of Eden and by eliminating Adam and Eve and by eliminating the ancestral sin and installing evolution in its place, there is no reason for Jesus, salvation, or God. We can do what we want without the repercussions of what comes afterwards because there is no afterwards.
